Mike Gravel for President

Gotta make me a new bumper sticker! Finally a straight out left wing idealist candidate! Mike Gravel rocked the debate tonight. I checked out his entry in Wikipedia and was pleased to see some of the great actions he took during the Vietnam War, including putting the Pentagon Papers into the public record and ending the draft. I am especially interested in the work he's done on the concept of direct democracy.

I reached the main page of his web site but cannot click on to either his "contribute" button or his "get involved" button as they are receiving too many connection attempts! Looks like I'm not the only one who found his stance worthy of support. Good going in the debate, Mike! When I can snag a banner from your site, I'll post it here. Until then, here's Youtube:

It's Gravel in last night's debate. I recorded the debate late last night when they repeated it and intend to watch tonight, I have to say I'm impressed with Gravel and I never even heard of the guy before, but if he helped end the draft I owe him a personal debt because I didn't go to Vietnam because the draft ended.

After reading his bio, I think I do remember his name from those heady days of youth and protest. Certainly the draft was the terror of our generation. That Mike Gravel had the courage to single-handledly filibuster on that issue and continues to speak to oppession appeals to all my radical sensibilities. His remarks were like cold fresh water in the face. Wake up people! If the war is wrong, then stop it. All this dawdling and quibbling over timelines and withdrawal dates is nothing more than thumb-twiddling until its time for regime change once more.
