Long Live the Village Green was once a blog in which I shared my concerns for our earth's well being, while exploring ways to make my life more sustainable and less harmful to the planet. Time passes and focus shifts, especially when forces array themselves against the public school system. As a public school teacher, I see top-down decisions destroying years of progress and growth. This blog will now focus on speaking truth to those who would privatize education.

James Brown, RIP...as big an influence on music in our lifetime as Dylan...no he was bigger than Dylan, he invented genres of music.
My personal hero as a bass player is Bootsy Collins and he got his start as a pro when he was a teen ager with his Brother Catfish playing on the classic late 60's and early 70's James Brown stuff. His stories of touring with James are insane. Bootsy and his brother were always sneaking around James iron hand approach to the band. He strictly forbade drugs. Once on a plane trip in Africa, the Collins brothers were often drinking milkshakes laced with LSD. James always wanted a taste of what other people had and they were only too happy to oblige! IT'S TOO FUNKY IN HERE!
